Theme: “Artificial Intelligence: Law and Religion in Nigeria”
The Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN), a leading body of Muslim legal professionals in Nigeria, continues to be at the forefront of blending legal thought with religious values. At its 2025 Annual General Conference held in Ilorin, Kwara State, MULAN convened legal experts, scholars, and stakeholders under the timely and thought-provoking theme: “Artificial Intelligence: Law and Religion in Nigeria.”
Delivering a highly impactful goodwill message, Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, FCIArb (UK), FCIMC, commended the MULAN leadership for its bold and necessary decision to interrogate the intersection of technology, law, and faith in today’s rapidly changing legal landscape.
“As AI rapidly transforms our legal systems, economies, and societies, it also presents unique challenges and opportunities for our religious and ethical frameworks,” Akinboro stated.
He emphasized that legal professionals—particularly those guided by faith—must play a proactive role in ensuring that technological innovation does not outpace justice, equity, or moral responsibility. Instead, they must work to develop frameworks that uphold human dignity, fairness, and respect for cultural and spiritual traditions.
Aare Akinboro further hailed the MULAN conference as a vital step in shaping a more ethically grounded and inclusive legal ecosystem. He saluted the foresight of the organizers and the commitment of participants and wished them fruitful deliberations and a successful event.
