The theme, “Through the Bar: Inspiring Change, Embracing Growth,” is both timely and profound, capturing the pivotal role the legal profession must continue to play in shaping a progressive and just society.

In a time of national challenges and global evolution, it is incumbent upon us as members of the Bar to lead conversations and actions that inspire transformation and sustainable development.
The chosen topic for the Annual Public Lecture, “Local Government Autonomy in Nigeria: A Myth or a Reality?” is particularly pertinent. Local governance remains the bedrock of true democracy and development. It is my hope that the robust discussions during this Law Week will contribute meaningfully to the national discourse and proffer lasting solutions.
I commend the leadership of the Ikorodu Branch for their commitment to professional excellence, intellectual engagement, and the promotion of the Rule of Law. May the outcomes of this Law Week strengthen your branch and further the cause of justice in our nation.
